DSL
and Satellite Broadband Scotland
With the
price of ADSL (broadband) becoming more cost affective it is important to log
your interest with British Telecom for your community. Home users and businesses
that are interested in the possibility taking up ADSL should register their
interest now to help meet the criteria of BT for enablement of their local
exchange.
To see if
your exchange is enabled and how many people have registered so far please go to
the
BT Broadband Availability and Registration Page.
To check the ‘Trigger Level’ required by BT for
enablement of your exchange) please check out
ADSLGuide.org.uk
Please note: If your town or area is not listed,
this means it has not yet been given a ‘Trigger Level’ by BT as yet. They will
however set one, when enough people have registered their interest for that
particular exchange.

Onspeed offers an affective
alternative to broadband 3/3/04 |
|
How does £1.99 a month or
£24.99 / €34.99 /$39.99 per annum with no connection costs and no
engineer that has to call to install hardware sound? A connection that will
almost increase the speed of your Dial-up modem to that of broadband?
Well
Onspeed gives us an alternative to ADSL (broadband) by increasing your
Dial-up internet connection to that of almost broadband. Not only that, it
significantly increases your speed if you are already a broadband or ISDN user.
However we have seen this
before so, we decided to run a comparison test here at HCS to see if the claims
Onspeed make were true...the answer... it does! On
using a dial-up connection we found it did indeed increase the speed of our
connection by making it almost 5 times faster from 42kbs to 213kbs. On ISDN in
this case 'Bt's Home Highway' it increased the connection from 59kbs to 248kbs
and on ADSL (broadband) form 256kbs to 360kbs. Of coarse this will significantly
vary from user to user and will also depend on your location.
Onspeed
is the first one we have found that actually works and works well and we would
have no hesitation in recommending it to our clients as either an alternative to
broadband or if you need to squeeze that bit more speed on existing ISDN or ADSL
(broadband) this is the answer for you too. For further information, download
and purchase please Click Here

"Foggie" reaches BT's Broadband
Trigger Level 18/02/04 |
|
Due to a few community spirited
people such as Bob Peden, Michael Crammer and Michael Stout, Aberchirder has
managed to exceeded the BT trigger level of 200 to have the exchange enabled for
broadband. They hope this will inspire other villages throughout Aberdeenshire
and the North East of Scotland to follow suit. For more information. >>
